I’ve been wanting to do a post about Qui Gon Jin for a very long time. He is probably one of the most underrated Star Wars characters of all time. Recently Liam Neeson (the actor who plays Qui Gon) came to The Shelbourne Hotel to the Saddlier Room Restaurant where my dad works as a sous chef!
First of all, who the hell is Qui Gon Jin?!?! He is Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Master, and he sadly only ever appeared in one Star War film i.e the 2nd worst Star Wars film i.e The Phantom Menace. I really don’t think that he got enough screen time and this awesome character was in a way wasted by mainly just appearing in a few scenes with young Anakin. Qui Gon is also often known as the one who messed up, since he was the one who was fighting really hard for Anakin to become a Jedi.
Of course, this character is also often disliked for the fact that he was the one who introduced medichlorians into the Star Wars universe; a decision that a heck a lot of people didn’t like at all. But I often think of Qui Gon as the father of Jedi. He is the only Master in the Star Wars Cannon universe who we have no idea who his master was, apart from Yoda himself. But Yoda doesn’t count.
And interesting idea I recently found on the At the Matinée blog, is that Qui Gon could appear as a Force Ghost in a potential Obi-Wan Kenobi Anthology spin-off. That would be absolutely amazing!
So, let’s get to the other main reason why I decided to do this post. Yes, Liam Neeson ate at The Saddlier Room. He ordered Pan-Roast Kilmore Quay Cod. He said that he really enjoyed it. You can learn more about Mr. Neeson’s recent trip to Ireland here.
