MCM Ireland Comic-Con 2017!

This was the third time that I went to this event and, as always, I really enjoyed it! I’d recommend it to anyone living in the UK or Ireland. So, let me talk about my experience this year.

First of all, I guess I’ll talk about the different stalls. I’ll try to name as many as I can remember. Forbidden Planet (a British comic book shop) had a stall, Gamestop had a stall, there was a stall with a bunch of swords, there was a stall with a bunch of plushies and masks, there was a stall with a bunch of Japanese food, there were a few stalls with custom lego figures, there was a stall with anime and manga, there was a stall with comic books, there was a stall with watches, there was a stall with hair bows, there was a stall with movie characters engraved in wood, a stall with movie characters engraved in stone, there were a bunch of stalls selling posters and prints and bunch of stalls just selling random merch… and that’s about all that I can remember.

So, as you can see, there was a ton of stalls. Another thing that I want to talk about, though, is the Comic Village. The Comic Village is an area in which a whole bunch of independant comic book creators have their own stall and promote their comics or comic art. I never really read too many indie titles before, but I bought a bunch this year. I bought the first volume of Twisted Dark, the first five issues of Moon and a small comic called Residents. One of the best things is that you can have a nice chat with the creator of the comic that you’re buying. I even got my Twisted Dark book and Moon comics signed by their respective creators.

. This comic is really damn awesome. I might do a review of it soon.

So, what else did I buy this year? Well, first of all, I bought a few really awesome custom LEGO figures. I got one of Wolverine, Heath Ledger’s Joker, Ant-man and Steve Rogers Captain America from Secret Empire. I also bought a really cool-looking Red Hood and Harley Quinn, but when I came home I did some research and it turned out that they don’t actually have an original design. Also, since I’m on the subject of LEGO, I bought a really sick custom set with Captain America and a little openable thingy for him to stand in. It’s hard to describe in words, dammit!

Apart from that, I bought a really badass Deadpool mask and a Batman comic. That’s it. Now, comic conventions are famous for having special guests. Sure enough, this one also had a good few. There were some great people, but I wasn’t really interested in meeting many of them. The was Sam Jones, the cast of The Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, Vic Mignogna, Summer Glau, Manu Bennet, Veronica Taylor, Nell Tiger Free and the cast of Uncharted. The Uncharted guys were the only people that I kind of wanted to see. I ended up seeing a panel with them, which was a load of fun. It was both interesting and hillarious, although I was kind of pissed that I didn’t get to ask a question.

Here are Troy, Emily and Noland of the Uncharted games.

And then, at the very end, there was the grand finale to this years’ MCM Dublin Comic-Con… The Cosplay Masquarede! It’s a really cool thing that they do each year where everybody who wants to can come up on stage to show off their cosplay and then the judges choose a few winners. There were some absolutely amazing cosplays this year! I keep telling myself each year that next year I will cosplay, but I never end up actually doing it. Next year, though, I really do want to make a cosplay. I’m thinking of doing the Punisher or Slapstick. Let me know what you guys think.

Anyway, that was a bit of a shorter post. I hope that you still all enjoyed it! Please, let me know what you think of it in the comments! Share this post on your social media if you feel like you want other people to know about it. Talking about social media, don’t forget to like me on Facebook, follow me on Instagram, follow me on Twitter and subscribe to me on YouTube. But that’s it from me for now. See thee soon!
